 | AMAZING AND EASY! Sep 1, 2009 |
| So far I have made 3 recipes from this book and they have all been easy with easy to buy ingredients. I love that the ingredients list is never too long as in many cook books. I never write reviews for books, but this was such a great one I had to! My mom and my three sisters use this book for the girls to pick out recipes that they can choose and cook with her. Even they are amazed at all the great flavors that seem to pop in each recipe. Try it. | | | | 180 tasty recipes that you can prepare in cook in around a half hour Feb 17, 2009 |
Wiley, working with ACP (Australian Consolidated Publishing) Books, provides us with 180 attractive and tasty recipes that you can prepare and cook in roughly a half hour. These dishes do not require any special equipment, techniques, of a high level of cooking skills. And these dishes are about cooking rather than opening a bunch of cans or boxes and throwing pre-made ingredients together. You get to enjoy fresh ingredients that you prepare and cook yourself. The ACP test kitchens assure us that they have triple tested these recipes and when you see the magazine quality photos of the finished dishes, you will likely believe them, as I do.
Each recipe provides us with the prep time, the cook time, and the number of servings. You also get a list of ingredients that are separated by dish components. For example, a salsa would have its own list separate from the, say, Cajun chicken. Each recipe provides a series of steps, usually just a few, that clearly tell you how to prepare and cook the dish. The editors also provide nutritional information for each serving. This is very helpful when you want to understand the impact the dish will have on your diet and nutritional plans. While there are light meals here, there are also substantial dishes with more than 800 calories. So, be sure to look at the nutritional information provided.
And each recipe also has a full page color photo that presents the dish beautifully and lets you know what you are aiming for as you put the dish together. The recipes are organized into sections on light meals, pasta, poultry, seafood, beef & veal, pork, and lamb. The index will help you find the dishes you are looking for.
Remember, this is not a book to help you learn to cook, but a book for busy real people who know the basics of cooking and want to explore tasty meals that don't take extensive preparation or cooking time.
Enjoy!
